Hi

Anyone know some reputable and affordable places to fit an air conditioning unit into a vehicle?

An AC in a Tazz is cool! Its like a Nos button!:p or a handbrake...

LMAO...eish I don't know hey, actually don't even know if people install AC's as complete units anymore, since ALL cars are fitted with AC's from the factory, unless you drive one of "those" ... no sorry mate me no know

they do get retro-fitted. i did some homework a few years ago on it but thought it was too expensive.

Anyway, I called up Toyota again. They recommended someone in my area-Independent Car Radio.

The crispair fitment is R7524
Dunair at R8950-this unit is the OEM fitment. The installer said there aint a real difference.

He could not comment on the power loss but has fitted many ac's in Tazzes before.

AC cannot be installed flawlessly onto any car, for the smaller engines 1.3 and 1.4 modifications needs to be done such as higher output alternator and such. This can become quite pricey.

The guy said it was a mechanical fitment not electrical. He never mentioned a bigger alternator.

Ja too pricey joh, for 8k you looking at wheels, + drop + minimal sound install...then youre compelled to drive wiff open windows so no AC needed!!!

Sound has been temporarily removed, no drop required as we want comfort from the new shocks. Wheels will be nice but cant afford those now.

it is a back-up car that we have to use if my car goes in for repairs like this week. lucky it aint that hot.

No man just forget about the AC alltogether...sounds like lotsa hassles for lotsa money!

AC in a tazz is possible... but going uphill with a load is going to mean changing down gears... btw, is it the 130 or 160 tazz?

Driving with the AC on uses more fuel, and it interfere with performance quit a bit. But I guess you don't worry about that :p

When my AC is on, the revs fluctuate between 900 and 1000rpm every few minutes.

Afterfit guys never upgrade alternator and battery as it would make everything too expensive. Having said that, there is nothing wrong with a Crispaire installed by a decent fitment place. Yes your battery and alternator will be slightly below par over a factory one, but it's not going to cause a major hassle at all.

Well, we were looking at trading in the Tazz but it's not financially viable right now. I dont wanna haveta spend R4k pm for the next 60 months. I'd rather spend R8k once-off.

its the 130. I dont mind the drop in power if using the car for only short periods of time or on wkends for shopping.

a major factor is the family that really cannot bear the heat sometimes. I could drive with all windows open but not with the family in the car.
