Hi guys,
does anyone know where i can get one. I Connection didnt have any. my ac power adapter pin broke but the external is still working.any ideas or help please. The Ellies pack that converts voltage never worked as a friend at work has the same problem but when we use a plain AC power from another external its fine. any help please

You can use a generic adapter provided:
1. The connector is the same
2. The voltage is the same, amount and also AC or DC
3. Th polarity on the connector is the same i.e. on a DC connector the inner pin and outer sheath must be set to the correct + and - setings.

A generic adapter will allow you to choose most ofthese things.

ok bud do you know where i can get one? the one from Ellies doesnt work at all

Does it conform with the suggested specs?

You can try an electrical shop or various computer shops or perhaps Hifi warehouse.

The should be pretty common.

Take the original in with you as a competent (good luck on that) salesperson should be able to identify your requirements.

The Ellies AC/DC adapter is only rated at 1A - I think you require a 2A supply. The Ellies adapter is also a linear supply i.e. contains a transformer and some smoothing circuitry. The adapter on my external drive is a switching supply i.e. the same technology as a PC PSU - read the label on the blown adapter very carefully. You would need to test whether or not a linear supply would power your external drive reliably if you decide to use such an adapter instead.

If you are looking for a 12V 2A switching adapter then take a look at this link ...

Some of the external power adapters might also contain a 5V supply in which case you might need to purchase a separate 5V supply such as these ...
