So they're in.

Important ones:

Best Picture: Argo
Best Director: Ang Lee (Life of Pi)
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln)
Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook)
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained)
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables)

Interesting that no one really cleaned up. Lincoln only got 2 out of the 12 it was nominated for. Life of Pi got 4 out of 11.
 
Christopher Waltz was brilliant in Django so definitely agree with that one. Dunno about Argo though.

I read somewhere yesterday that these awards are starting to lose their "luster" and they just don't mean that much anymore.

I thought it was excellent. But I haven't seen Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty or Les Misérables, so dunno about them. Which do you think should rather have won?

Yeah, he was fantastic. Sad that Philip Seymour-Hoffman didn't get a nod, but he got one for Capote, so he can't complain.

Regarding the awards' luster... I suppose it depends who you talk to. For many it's never meant anything. :p
 
Argo best picture?

What a fail of an awards ceremony.

It was a good movie but nothing too special.

Argo was a good thriller but definitely not worthy of the best picture of the year award.

Ironically I thought it extremely well directed and shot but Affleck didn't even get nominated.

I think this is the first time a best pic winner didn't get a best director nomination.

That should tell you something.

Life of Pi or Lincoln should have won.
 
Pity that Les Miserables never won the bet sountrack.
The music for the play and movie was written by an Herbert Kretzmer, born in Kroonstad

For his work on the Les Misérables lyrics, Kretzmer received Tony and Grammy awards.

Hollywood trying to rehabilitate itself politically. Only explanation how Argo and that other average film The Hurt Locker won IMO

Hollywood doing its best to ensure that Mr Affleck doesn't appear in front of the camera again ? :)
