My EPG was updated this morning, indicating that the full Academy Awards show, and pre-show will be broadcast in HD on channel 170 from 1am - 8.30am Monday morning. It appears to be a simulcast of the SD version on MM1. There are no official announcements anywhere so DSTV must just have acquired the rights to the HD version.

I know HD is cool and all but to watch talking heads and people congratulate each other over assembly line kitsch in HD seems a bit excessive. IMO the only meaningful section of the Oscars to watch is the "Foreign Language Film"
section and even that can be better represented by Venice, Cannes and Berlin
Film Festivals.

Dstv are great at not advertising the really big pullers for HD...

The Sharks Lions match yesterday was broadcast in HD as well, but the EPG was only updated a few hours before, and the only people who knew were those who frequent the DSTV forums. I think its a big FAIL on behalf of Multichoice.

I donno i can't manage to watch a whole of one of these rewards ceremonies... i get ratty halfway through and lose my temper...

I actually think it is a pot of Bull...

Who cares about the oscars, the grammy's are far more entertaining
