Wonder

Are we just glossing over the fact that The Boss Baby is an Oscar nominated film?

Haven't seen most except Billboards so hard to gauge, but it looks like a case of thats going to win vs some common favorites.
There have been a few off years in the past, where the choice of exceptional movies was very limited. I think this is one of those years.

Dunno about that. Some very highly rated movies have been released this year; 3B, Lady Bird, Shape of Water, Call Me By Your Name, Dunkirk, Get Out etc..

And a lot of them you mentioned are on the list.

The Shape of Water led the pack with an impressive haul of 13 nominations; the polarizing “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and “Dunkirk” were not far behind.

Haven't seen TSOW but Three Billboards is exceptional.

I know, but the point is that there isn't a limited choice.
If you have 12 to choose from, there isn't a limited choice. If there are 6 to choose from , there is.

All your awards ceremonies will look kind of identical as they will all have the same 6 . Which was my point

I named 6, but there are more, including on the list.
