Accident - Insurance advice?

It is a double swing gate. I watched for the gap between the trailer and the car, paying close attention to the left side of the vehicle. Then the wheel arch of the trailer, which is of course wider than the car, clipped the gate on the right side, which was closed and for use by vehicles going in the opposite direction.

The main damage from what I could see was the motor which opens the gate which had a bent arm. It also tore from the gate a bit. The trailer seems fine.

All this because I didn't want to get someone to help me check as I drove in.
OK, so it was a driver fault them.
In some cases the automated gate logic is too sensitive, and the gate closes on a trailer regardless. In such a case it is the BC's fault.
