Never been to the South coast before and I'd love any recommendations. The place should be a walking distance to the beach, decent and affordable.
I plan on going there in few months, so I will have enough cash to stay for a week or so.

Not sure on accommodation but areas that are nice are. Shelly beach. St. Michaels. Trafalgar. San lamear. uvongo. Just don't go in peak season unless you enjoy joburg at the sea

If I still lived in the highveld I could go back to Leisure Bay, again and again and again. You won't regret it if you're looking for a place to relax at.

EDIT: http://www.wheretostay.co.za/peterpanplace/ we used to stay here... a bit grotty but really depends on the unit you got. People used to book for the following year when they left.

family vacation (with kids), you and your s/o or just you?

there are loads of nice and good priced places it just depends on what your needs will be

Try Pumula Beach Hotel. About an hour away from Durban. Awesome place. Very friendly staff and overall enviroment. On a blue flag beach, practically right on the beach. Would highly recommend this place.

Thanks guys. I will let you know what I have decided. It's just me and my gf.

Take her to Shaka Marine World. You can all slide down the wet n wild slide thing among other things.

How about Victoria Street market ?

Which Indian restaurants would you recommend while we are in Durban?

gateway has everything.

Restaurants to dine. Enough to keep kids happy as well.

Victoria Street market ain't what it used to be.... sadly.
