but I can phone vodacon numbers.
I can phone and receive calls from cell c, mtn and telkom.

about a month ago I got a new phone, and decided to dump vodacon due to their rubbish network where I live. so I got a cell c sim, and everything is grand. except for the above issue. anyone have an answer? having spoken to vodacon techies who are totally f&*#@^&ing clueless, I am actually embarressed for vodascum. I mean seriously, I call my lady on her vodacon number no problem. but when she hits redial, it tells her my number does not exist....
and then vodascum morons who evidently have the intellect of our president try and pass the buck and tell us its a cell c problem.....
pardon me if I am getting this so far out wrong, but if I can call vodacon, and message vodacon numbers, but cant receive calls and messages from vodacon numbers, HOW IN THE HELL IS IT A CELL C PROBLEM?!

15 years of protection, and stealing your customers blind, and you still blame other companies. *spit* vodacon and mtn are a sad sad indictment of what is wrong with this world.

Id love to say I expect something to happen, but thats like expecting jz to personally pay my taxmoney back to me in R100 notes

Rejoice! You are being progressively delisted and erased. After the networks blot you out, your tax registration number will be deleted. Just wait another 55 years and you're history.

PS. I've always wanted a call-only phone.

It's an incomplete port - VC customer care should deal with it.

The MNP department just needs to update the routing tables for your number, then turn of your handset, wait 5 minutes and then turn it on again, all should be good.

I didnt port my number though. its a new (apparently) number. and yes, vodacon should sort it out real soon, but that aint gonna happen. as it is, my lady's contract with those thieves is up soon, and for want of a better cliche, its the final nail in the coffin for vodascum. yet another long term customer walks out the door

Where did the number come from? Is it a brand new number that you have never used before? Are you 100% sure your number was not ported?

Incomplete port - Cell should actually sort this out for you.
I know you said its a new number for you - but its probably a recycled number that inherited the problem

You need to choose the correct options and log a call, because this might need more of a technical person than the normal call center agent.

If this is a new number or incomplete port, Cell C Mobile Number Portability (MNP) department will be your point of call for this in order for them to update the routing tables. All of the answers brought forward so far are valid but this may as well have the correct troubleshooting on the forum before proceeding

Why don't you phone the store you got the SIM from and get them to log a call from their side?

so after shouting at a few people at cell c, due to some who said its their problem and not vodacons... guess what, they made a call or two to vodacon, and voila! I can receive calls from vodacon after they sorted out their routing tables.

thanks to the cell c guy that watches these pages, because apparently due to the new mtr rates, vodacon is unable to pay people to sort problems out. this folks, is why I got the hell off their network after more than a decade. how embarassing
