Accounts Suspended to be reActivated

I think reasonable monthly limit for an average house is 20GB, obviously no limit is much better, but I can understand the ISP's as well, as I am not such an as5hole like them. So if they give everybody 20GB per month, 99% of the customers will be more than happy, and 1% can pay extra if they want more than 20GB. As far as I know the rest of the world either have no monthly limits or they start from 20GB upwards, often being 30-40-50 or even 100GB. So we pay 2-3 times more than the rest of the world, can't we get at least decent monthly limit for that????? 1 or 3 GB in year 2005 is fu0king ridiculous! I am consuming more than a gig per month just for browsing, right, just BROWSING!!!

I couldn't agree with you better they are maybe telling that to people so they can SHUT up. (Stop bugging us we don't like you bugging us)

If anyone calls HELPDESK please Record the conversation if you don't mind and post. So we can listen :)

The helpdesk lies, obviously. They've done so many times before, why should now be any different.

Obviously, they're not liking this backlash. But it's too late for band-aid measures.

I just spoke to Shermler, It seems it was WBS fault,( We know it was there fault) so they are going to Re Activate those accounts but they are going to Strickly Monitor the users. One user downloaded 85 GIG +,
RichardG, thanks for the info :).

I don't know if someone from WBS has already announced this by posting a confirmation somewhere in this the MyADSL iBurst forum, if not then WBS need to officially post here - no offence RichardG, we just need the horse's mouth to start speaking to us, otherwise WBS might turn around & say they never said they would reactivate suspended accounts ;).

If WBS intend to strictly monitor usage of the previously suspended iBursters, then WBS will only be doing the job that they should have been doing from the start!!!
RichardG said:
She also told me users knew they didn't have CAP but didn't notify WBS, now lets see how the cap comes in place.

Let's see if those accouts get Re-activated.
Well that is just a steaming pile of cowpatty - there are a number of posts & threads in this forum where capped iBurster forumites detailed that they were getting better speeds than the iBurster forumites that still had unused bandwidth available. So, now that's taken care of, what other excuses will WBS invent...?

I really don't know what to say...I contacted wbs 5mins ago(just before i got my ISDN up & running again to check the forums)They told me I had to send them a fax, with how many more bandwith i want for this month, and i'll have to pay for it,but they'll be nice and not charge me for the 20gigs i went over my limmit.I was stunned and couldn't respond to that so I ended the call.
I would really hate to drive over there tomorrow,do any of u know when the will send us the ,Haha we got u email, and reconnect our acounts?

This is utter and TOTAL B@llsh!t. WTF are these people smoking up there ... bet you they don't even need the lift to get to the upper floors!

BicPen, get a lawyer (I can suggest someone), and take them to the cleaners. I have never in my life seen such a gross derilection (sp?) of duties and extortion

BicPen they screwed up like I was told over the phone begin of this month. A user had duplicate username like myne on wbs, A guy called me up "We @ WBS have screwed up" Tell them it's not your duty to notify them etc.

IC, who knows WBS don't inform us of anything only when we need to pay them money if that ever comes. I've not received any invoice from WBS so far, Why should we pay since there is no proof. I'm paying if they are just taking money from my banking account.

Reconnection

Guys beware of fobs!!!

All good and well, however should WBS be allowed to continue to act like A *** flipping the switch whenever they want to??????

I have mailed Damian and Tradepage and WBS

with the following:

refer to the way and manner in which my account/connection was suspended this morning and wish to make the following complaints.

1. I never saw any mention of "unordinate use of bandwidth'in any of your documents, pamphlets at any time.
2. Should you believe that my usage is such that it was "inordinate" -because your cap system doesnt work, you could have warned me at any stage by email or otherwise.
3. As you have seen fit to imply (by suspending my account) that i am in breach of contract, I would understand from that that you no longer wish to provide me with internet access.

Please confirm this to me in writing

regards
tra***.***@wbs.co.za

IF we let WBS get away with shocking Dictatorship Type actions, then we have no future for Broadband at International comparisons ever in this country.
Just now VDK3G AND MTN will do the same thing!!!!!!

Think about it!!!!

I thought WBS would be a good product but I was wrong. It just shows me how money comes in the way for bandwidth. WBS would of has nice user base if they had UN CAP bandwidth, for 1 year, Then introduce the CAp :0 .

From the WBS Agreement:

5. Suspension
5.1 Service Provider may at any time, without notice to the subscriber and in any manner whatsoever, suspend the subscriber's access to the MDN Services in the event that:
5.1.1 any modification, maintenance or remedial work is required to be undertaken pertaining in any manner whatsoever, to the MDN Services or the Network. Service Provider will endeavour to inform the subscriber timeously, in the event of planned maintenance;
5.1.2 the subscriber fails to perform any of his or her obligations, or breaches any terms of the agreement (in which event Service Provider may also suspend the subscriber's use of the terminal equipment).
5.2 Service Provider reserves the right to require the subscriber to effect payment of any applicable reconnection charges pursuant to the restoration of the MDN Services suspended in the circumstances contemplated in clause 5.1.2. In the event that the subscriber's access to the Network is suspended, the subscriber shall still be liable for the monthly service charges during any such period of suspension.

Watch them pull a reconnection charge up.

IANAL (I am not a lawyer) but it seems they can cut you off any time they feel like it if there is a "remedial" to be done on their network.

Pretty vague and non spesific but it seems you folks got nailed right and proper.

Anybody willing to take them on this issue except cancelling their contract.

Sheesh - I thought that AYCE was one sided. WOW. That's a baaaaaaaad one.

LMAO! This is classic!

What would they say if you said "I'd like 0.00GB bandwidth, but would like to be put on the promised throttled service of unlimited 64kbps"? If they can't deliver this, then they would HAVE to make a compromise and give you next best thing, the 1mbit service. They have no right to cut you off if they cannot deliver their package spec.

Personal Opinion and Personal Speculation: They had no right capping EVERYONE due to their botched up capping system (which is what I believe they did). They should take the fall for that, not us.
