Acer Aspire One

Not a very good review I'm afraid. I have the AAO D250, with 2Gig Memory running Windows 7. Speedwise it is about the same as XP, but video playback is definately better. Using it mostly for emails and surifing the net, and watching the occasional movie. Got it from Incredible Connection for R3999 - not too pricy I reckon.

I've got the one with the 8GB SSD, installed Win7 on it and it's comfortable enough, I did all my written assignments for Postgrad diploma on it. I did all my research on it too. The ability to turn the screen sideways and read like a largish book is a real winner. It's small enough to carry around everywhere, so it went to class with me to take notes, follow slides and do presentations on.

I also run Win7 on the 8GB SSD model with 1GB Ram. Run fast with no probs :)

This model has now been replaced by a new model which has been renamed the Acer aspire 1810T. It retains the same chassy but its on the inside that there is a HUGE IMPROVEMENT.The poor performance atom processor has been replaced with a Intel core 2 Duo processor (SU7300) and it now comes with 4GB Ram ; 360 GB Hard Drive ;Windows 7 and a 6 cell battery also giving up to 8 hours batter life. Also its more than a R1000.00 cheaper than the ACER one .Its is currently available on numerous SA online stores with wantitall.co.za being about the cheapest at about R7000.00
I have just received mine and overall its a great machine and I can highly recommend it

did i miss something? i have the 8GB SSD aspire one and its not even remotely capable of running win7. it barely runs ubuntu netbook remix. thats with 1GB RAM

Yea I have a stripped down version of XP SPK 3 and Ubuntu on mine and with the extra 1 GB ram.

I wouldn't dream of putting Windows 7 on it....

Intel core 2 Duo processor sounds like fun

I upped the ram on my AAO and it handles Window7 without a fault*.

EDIT - * apart from the fan but there's a free app that takes care of that little annoyance.

Might fiddle later and see what it does...

Stay away from Atom based netbooks unless you are going to use it for nothing but web browsing and the occasional small Word document.

If it has a 150Gb hdd then it is the A0531-h probably.

How on earth do you get 7 hours of work out of it? I barley manage 2h20min on mine!

Tiny Win7 rev01 runs beautiful on the A110 with 1GB Ram... with a few tweaks tho :)

For all the Aspire One D250 (160gb Models) out there: I see Acer has released official Windows 7 drivers at last. Its available on their website.
