Acer battery issue

Hey

I was busy updating the laptop (not on the power cable) then it eventually installed and all was fine, I left it on the bed and when I got back it was dead, plugged it in and when I turned it on... my battery doesn't want to charge, the system says its plugged in and charging, however it also says 0% available.

I have installed HW Monitor which states the battery is 56% worn...

Any ideas what to do? (Note the laptop does power on via AC)

Does it turn off immediately or shutdown very soon after removing AC power?
I am afraid, battery is gone.
