Acer has stated that it will be pushing Linux aggressively on its laptops and netbooks..

The company is already heavily promoting Linux for its low cost ultra-portable netbook range out later this year, but senior staff have said that Acer will also push Linux on its laptops.

Acer has already started selling Linux in its Media PC business but this should now spread, according to Gianpiero Morbello, vice president of marketing and brand at Acer.

At least I hear of some news of Linux-equipped computers reaching our shores....

There seems to be a large number of the big hardware vendors picking up the linux batton now. So far my count of hardware vendors who are taking big steps into the linux market are:

- Asus
- Acer
- Dell

Im sure there are more though.

THANK YOU VISTA! Its really helping Linux.

Microsoft shot itself in the foot with Vista - all because it was sooooooooooooo clunky. The major shift will only be seen in around 6 months. No more XP retail so tech-unsavvy people will want to know why their Vista-branded laptop is running like a legless dog. Enter linux alternative... smack bang!

Did you know that even though Vista shipped more units than XP did in its first year - it actualy shipped on less (percentage wise - i think its something 38% vs 90% or somehting like that). Ofcourse we are talking oem, preistalled here.
