Acer hits out at Vista operating system

Funny, I know it's there without even having installed it.

If the government is allowed to monitor all your telephone calls as they please, is it OK for them to do so as long as you don't know when they're doing it?

I have serious misgivings about any operating system being defective by design, swallowing needless processor cycles for something that doesn't even benefit me as a user.

Funny you should say that. I actually read this article today ;)

Seems pretty cool to me. It would be interesting to see what happens, if more people will say no? ;)

And the built-in DRM stuff doesn't bother you?

Like someone said, I don't notice it, at all. I can still play everything as I could in XP. I just don't use anything with DRM protection, maybe it is a problem, I don't know yet. I don't think it ever will be for me.

I agree, Microsoft included DRM because that is what the industry demanded of them, my solution don't buy DRM protected content. there are a few sites out there that still sell DRM free content.

Seems not everyone agrees... Seems there's quite a few people saying that MS is dragging the entertainment industry along to force them to use MS as a distribution channel.

What he forgets to mention is that the Entertainment industry is *Much* larger then Microsoft, and Microsoft has pretty much no clout in it, so how Microsoft is supposed to force the entertainment industry to do it's bidding is beyond me.

I'm still a bit skeptical about Vista. I guess you only really hear about all the problem. Very seldom do you hear about the good (isn't that in most cases?). Guess I'm just gonna have to install it and see for myself

hehe Seems you need a thicker tinfoil hat, the mind rays are getting through, I made mine with 9 layers of foil, the voices told me 8 was not enough.

Edit: PS make sure the shiny side is on the outside.

There's no forcing... yet. What he's saying is that getting them to buy into this DRM idea ("Hey, this is a great idea!") will allow them in future to have leverage over the entertainment industry once the DRM products are widespread.

Nah. Only thing I'd possibly need a tinfoil hat for are ad-hominem arguments, but fortunately I can spot one a mile away regardless. ;)

Got a new Acer 4230 laptop vith Vista Business pre-installed about a month ago. Everything is running smoothly here no driver clashes or anything.
