Acer Laptop - Your Opinion needed

Hi Guys

I'm considering getting the following Acer laptop for work:

It will be used mainly for development (Visual Studio/SQL/C Builder)

I like to know what you think about that laptop or the Acer brand in general. Is it reliable?
I'm getting the laptop from Mustek and this laptop seems to be one of the better ones that they have.

Why not go Dell?

I never had issues with Acer, but if anything goes wrong, Dell come out to YOU and fix the problem, for me, that is a score.
If anything goes wrong with Acer, they send a courier to fetch it, which goes away and is then return when it is fixed.
 
I had screen issues with my Acer, never bought Acer again, especially after all the tosh I had with the after support folks. I now own a dell vostro.... Way better..
 
I wanted a dell, however the company only deals with Mustek and they don't supply dell.
I only have the price lists for:

Mecer
Acer
Asus
 
I'm on my 2nd Acer laptop, (and I have an Acer one netbook) and my wife has on of those 24" desktop built in touch screen thingys, and I'd recommend the brand highly.
 
See if you cannot get hold of the Acer Aspire V3-772G-9460.
This one has a Haswell i7 4702MQ CPU, 12GB RAM, 1TB HDD + 120GB SSD and a 17.3" screen (1920x1080). * Unfortunately I don't see any SA site listing it yet.

If I had to pick a laptop to do development work on, I won't settle for anything less than that! The resolution, RAM and SSD really makes a huge difference.
You can get away with a 1600x900 resolution if you have 2x 1920x1080 PC monitors that you can attach to the laptop.
Like at this moment I have an i7 860, 32GB RAM, 2TB HDD + 128GB OCZ Agility 4, 30" (2560x1600) + 23" (1920x1080) at my office for software development :D The other suckers who are on laptops without SSD's take about 4x longer to build their projects!

Please take note that they reviewed the V3 771G and not the 771 model like you give a link to in your original post.
The 'G' refers to the dedicated graphics card, however it could also be the difference between having:
4 RAM slots, 2 HDD bays + mSATA slot vs. 2 RAM slots & 1 HDD bay

So if you're considering going for that Acer that you gave a link to, I'd highly recommend that you first query about how many HDD bays / mSATA and RAM slots it has, so that you can upgrade it!
