No I already phoned them. Got through to the Call Center manager and he is taking it up with the Technical manager and they will call me some time today.

This might be a bit hard, but I have found that dealing with a call center never gets anything resolved, most of the time I have to social engineer people to find out if I can talk to senior management, the best place to start is to try and find out who Acer outsources there repairs to, and then phoning them directly.
 
Righto... They are going to cover it under the existing warranty.

Only problem now is that the guy from the courier company might get fired because my colleague did not tick the "Item received in a good state" box.
 
I received my laptop today. It is fixed, a bit...

But hey you can't win with these people... they damaged my laptop bag as well.
