So I recently booked my laptop in for repairs as it was still under warranty.
There were some problems with the fan as it was quite noisy...

The courier guy came to fetch the laptop (Aspire S7-392), took it to the Acer branch in JHB and that is where they repaired the laptop.

I got my laptop back today after 2 weeks and the form that the courier had was signed.

The box was sealed. I opened the box, took all the bubble wrap and foam out of the way and got presented with a laptop that was sealed in a plastic bag.

I opened the seal, took the laptop out and opened my laptop.

This is what I got in return:

This is the packaging. The box shows how much bubble wrap and foam there was, the black bag shows that I gave an extra bag with for extra protection.

Technical support told me that because a colleague signed the page from the courier, they are not liable for any damages.
Damages that I found only after I opened the box, took the sealed plastic bag off and opened the laptop.

If this was a problem from the courier then obviously, there would be damages on the outside of the laptop.

The damages shown above shows that a piece of the chassis is open and that there are scratch marks on the aluminium.

WTF now?

They want me to book it in again to determine who was at fault, and I must pay for them collecting it.

Scratching on picture 2A can not come from shipment. Lid had to be open at the time on impact.

They are saying that since my colleague signed the form from the courier company, the damages was accepted. I didn't even open the box. I took it up to my office, opened thee box there, and only then, waaaay after the courier left, I saw this stuff up.

Is this right? Am I now supposed to accept these damages because of the signed page from the courier?

Ok they came back to me. They don't want to accept responsibility because my colleague signed the courier form. She left the fscking box sealed!!!!!

She didn't even tick the box where they asked if it was in a good state or not.

Yeah so it seems like I am going to have to accept my laptop with damages that these MuthaFSCKERS incurred. FSCK I am done with these people and they have just lost a customer that was loyal to them since forever.

Funny how no one on this forum can give me some sound advice on how to handle this issue...

Sorry camikaze, I'd have fought it. Back in 2008 I had an Acer laptop that failed under warranty, I dropped it off, they "repaired" it only to have it come back with damage on the lid.
They tried the same trick but I asked them how that was possible and to show me how I'd damage it that way. Escalated to the head office eventually collected it to repair. Long story short 15 repairs later thanks to those morons

They trying to force it on me because the form from the courier was signed before I checked the laptop. The damages amount up to R10k.

Unbelievable. Sounds like you're not being assertive enough?

Demand and demand until you've spoken to upper management. Do not put the phone down until you get to them. Be nice.

the damage was clearly done before it was put in the packaging, seems they've not changed in 8 years :(

Updated.

I can not believe how Acer completely ignored my complaint and proceeded to quote me R 10 000 for the damages that they have incurred. There was no mention on what happened in the technical workshop or anything, not even an apology. You guys are clearly in it for the money with no service whatsoever. What is the point of having a warranty knowing that my belongings will come back worse than what it went in?

Also, what is the point of posting this on HelloPeter if you are not even going to read the complaint?

Technical support??? sounds more like a chop shop to me.

No I already phoned them. Got through to the Call Center manager and he is taking it up with the Technical manager and they will call me some time today.
