Anybody how how long it takes to get the ADSL line running after completing all the necessary paperwork with Afrihost?

We received an email saying line is active etc, but on logging into the client zone it shows the line status as pending.

Thanks

Sometimes we receive late notification from Telkom that the line is active (from their automated system reports) but we are able to test the line and see that DSL is possible. There can be a few days in between where you could have service.

Drop me a PM and I'll check it out for you. Generally DSL activation takes anything from a week to 30 days, it really depends on your local Telkom office's resources.

PM sent.

Up to 30 days - sheesh, thats crazy.

I hope mine is sorted out quickly.

A few of my colleagues are with Afrihost. Do you already have an ADSL line or just the voice?

If you have the voice line then its quicker to get Telkom to convert the line. I was lucky, they converted my line the same day.
When that is done the application with Afrihost is quick and simple.

Have just the voice line at the moment. I already started the process with Afrihost, thinking it would be a lot quicker with them.

It is still the Telkom workforce that need's to do the work, all the ISP's just mediate on your behalf with Telkom.

Going Afrihost might be the easiest less stressful way. Dealing with 10210 is sometimes a mission. Yesterday i sat for hour and 25mins just to get my Do Uncapped 4meg converted to the combo Do Uncapped Premium Plus 10meg.

True. But normally from a day to 21 days, no?

Really depends. Best I've seen is about 4/5 days. Generally just short of 2 weeks is the norm I would say in my experience. Usually if you're getting close to 30 days it's because there are no ports available or some other issue.

Any way to confirm if there any ports available in my area?

My line got installed first week of Desember. It is active and I'm using it, but Telkom, to this day have not handed it over to Afrihost.
They are following up with Telkom though, so I hope it would be completely transferred soon.
