Hi all

I have a DSTV decoder installed in my flat but cancelled the subscription a while back. I want to reactivate my subscription for the month long duration of the World Cup which starts on Thursday.

If I activate on Thursday does the subscription run for one month from the date of activation, i.e from 12 June - 12 July? Or does it charge me a pro rata fee for the remaining calendar days in June, a full subscription for July and then a credit for the remaining days in July once I cancel the subscription on 12 July?

I want to activate the compact package as all the games are on SS3 and its the cheapest option with SS3.

Hope that makes sense :D

Thanks in advance

Reason I'm going for DSTV option is I won't be able to watch all of the games live so I want SS Blitz for highlights

You'll have better highlights on sabc, but if you really want to have Blitz then activate the easyview package,it's R29.00.

its pro rata...

Activate easy view for blitz and watch it on SABC.

You activate on 12 June, you get billed compact fee till month end pro rata after which you will get charged for the full month of July. When you downgrade on 12 July, DSTV will still hold onto your money in a credit account for you, and will only pay it back to you when you phone in and request id (Or send a PM to them view the DSTV Forums). What I do is leave that money in credit and downgrade to easyview so that the easyview payments come out of that credit. Just less hassle that way.

seeing as most you guys are saying watch on sabc... how would the quality be? and more importantly the commentary :erm:

i just pay for the sabc channels on dstv, but i dont use it... now for the WC i got to reconnect everything

Aren't you gonna be in work during the times that they play?

From what I can see, the games on weekdays kick off at 4:30pm and run all the way to midnight so you won't miss a lot.

SABC have a habit of inserting their own multilingual commentary into the game they broadcast which is not nice to have. DSTV don't do that any more they leave the feed English commentary from the official FIFA broadcast.

Is there no other place to watch the matches, live streaming or something. For us that do not have SABC or DSTV?

Would they not maybe have a channel on YouTube or something for the matches to stream it?

Watch on sabc , for highlights, watch the news.
