A black hole in the universe - JHB
I am thinking about doing this, on my business page.
Is it a complicated thing to do?
Basically did the site myself with trial and error.

Is there some kind of plug in one uses locally?

Would appreciate some info

Thanks

So I am busy installing it now, with shipping, it says
1. flat rate or
2. free shipping

Obviously locally would be flat rate for shipping I assume, but what amount would one use?

That is your own rate, that is pending whether you go by price, weight or dimension. Shipping is a company policy in line with ECT and CPA. However, many courier companies do have their own APIs and Wordpress plugins that you can install, most will provide you with assistance to set it up. Just query around should you want or have a shipping partner(s).

You can change the rates at any time.

A few things worth investigating on your side:

- uAfrica. Local company that integrates with WooCommerce and other major platforms. Automatically pulls in all orders and lets you ship using Dawn Wing, Courier IT or Courier Guy. Most couriers don't service all areas, so it can be critically important to be able to ship via three different couriers on a per order basis. You get hefty discounts on each order if you have a subscription.

- Shopify. If you're a noob who doesn't code or simply isn't too great with HTML and CSS for styling your site, Shopify could be the platform you're looking for compared to Wordpress and WooCommerce. The back-end is much nicer to use and apps from the Shopify app store are super easy to install. uAfrica and PayFast are both big fans of Shopify, and brought down Shopify employees in February to join them at their Cape Town summit. The interface for customising your pages is vastly superior to other platforms.

If you want to go the way of Shopify, get this theme:
https://outofthesandbox.com/collections/turbo-theme/products/turbo-theme-chicago

The demo examples are very unexciting, but there is nothing out there with the insane customisability and regular updates as that theme. Nothing comes close.

Small final point: compress all images before uploading, and make sure collection and product images have the same aspect ratio. This small difference will make your collection and product pages look consistent, and the site will load much faster.

Im with domains.co.za
cPanel I assume? Don't they offer softaculous?
Softcalous offers a staging option which works pretty well.

You're more than welcome to pm me a link. WordPress should easily integrate with any template. Perhaps a few CSS tweaks are required.

Heya, Did you ever come right with this. I am delving into the world of WordPress and WooCommerce and am finding it very interesting...

No not yet. Unfortunately my site isnt compatible with a shop from what the guys tell me here
PM me a link and I can take a look. I often use subdomains (so instead of https://www.biteconsulting.co.za ) I create a subdomain, eg, WP Test . Install Wordpress on there and play around. You may need to install an export / import plugin to transfer between the two...
