They won't take Dreamweaver away. I think.

That beast called Photoshop must just not kill little old Fireworks.
Odly enough I think Photoshop rules as does Illustrator - I just dont like Go Live or inDesign (I use and like Quark for some unknown reason).

I vastly prefer Fireworks over ImageReady - I guess it's what your used to.
Of course, Photoshop is the king of the bitmap editors - I just use fireworks to split up graphics and export.

anyway, I think this is really bad news as it narrows down competition

Totally agree and in my opinion although Adobe has some really good products, they're a bit too pricey.

Absolutely brilliant move

Here is another take on the merger ... must say I agree with it.

"Two companies who have not kept up with times - Adobe Systems and Macromedia - are hooking up. Adobe is buying Macromedia for $3.4 billion in stock. The deal is proof that there is little or not growth organic growth left in the old Silicon Valley. Desktop publishing, and subsequently Web 1.0 publishing are passe. These two companies have not developed killer apps for either broadband or wireless enabled comm-puting. They missed the whole blogging thing, and have not produced a must have killer app in recent times. They are becoming increasingly irrelevant in digital worlds where free programs like iPhoto and Picasa are setting the tone on the desktop. Don’t expect innovation as a result of this deal - this is a deal to boost the revenues and maybe profits."

oh my dog is that so stupid...macromedia developed flash the most used interactive platform on the net. adobe developer photoshop the most popular image editing system.
they don't develop apps for end users...they develop apps for people that make blogs, iPhoto, Picasa etc...

What's the source of this excrement - seriously - did you make that up? What dolt would compare iPhoto to Photoshop? I run both – I play with iPhoto and I work with photoshop, and desktop publishing passé - oh please.
