Adrian Gore: We are too negative about SA

Well, the popular narrative here on MyBB being that of an impending disaster, of doom and gloom, of SA becoming Zimbabwe, of the looming dictatorship in SA, I totally understand why Gore does not have many friends on this forum at the moment.

I am not his friend, for different reasons. First and foremost its because he is not someone I can trust, and secondly, as an ex-member of his disgusting little medical scheme I know what it is like for them to not pay for essential treatment while he laughs all the way in his Ferrari. The man is arrogant, has been featured / linked to tax dodging far too many times, and the list goes on.

As for Zimbabwe, we are not there yet, but things cannot continue like they are, or soon we will be there. I have spent a considerable time in Zim to know the difference between there and here.

As other have said, easy when you have multi-millions, as well as probably having a few off-shore (and probably increasing it) when something goes wrong here.

Reminds me of a certain rich white Capetonian forum member here, who usually also spouts nonsense, but then brags in other threads how he and his family can hop on a plane instantly to fly to Europe for safety :erm:

Problem is you have nothing invested in confirming whether we're on our way to Zim or not, your comments often show stubborn support for the ANC and blacks even when, no expecially when, they mess up badly. Either way you risk nothing so your opinion doesn't carry much weight.

Similarly this guy is not invested like the man on the street is, yeah he runs a business but can leave any time & still have a comfy life elsewhere, so the real risk to himself of being right or wrong about this country's future is minimal. In fact what he's saying might just be for the benefit of that very business, you know, exactly like some politicians sing for their salary..

Gore's comments and sentiments are shared by millions of people in SA not just him or me, that is why there is no mass exodus of professionals, academic and business people contrary to what many like you would want us to believe, Why should we not talk about the success that we've had in the country since 1994, some of us are well and capable of seeing the good amongst the bad and just as we are able to complain about crime, corruption and the economy we are able to also appreciate and celebrate the giant strides we've made since 1994, something which you and ilk seem incapable of.

If that makes me a stubborn ANC supporter of the ANC and black people then I would not have it any other way, but keep on dreaming maybe your 'I told you so moment' will come one day though it seems to be taking forever.

You don't understand the capitalist mind, giving up early without extracting the max possible profit is not an option. The trick is to keep people investing in your company by telling everyone everything is still cool while you are secretly moving your nest egg offshore.

The true capitalist will even find a way to exploit and profit from the actual collapse..

Oh believe me there are many of us with an escape plan, maybe not at Gore's level but we've seen what happened in Zimbabwe when irrationality takes over, things are just not bad enough for us to pull the trigger, yet.

In a way we still have hope that you and your ilk will finally have your own wtf moment and realise your choice of leaders is what will keep you in servitude forever.

Some of you seem to have woken up to the facts, yes things might have improved by a huge margin for a large sector of the population, but its all quite temporary with a man like Zuma in control. After all what is a state capturer to do but feed the populace some crumbs to keep them sedated during those many month of screwing them out of their future?

The capitalist though looks to the future and sees the trend, and having analysed the risk, he plans accordingly..

Honestly, I think there are still too many whites for South Africa to become Zim 2.0 anytime soon. But yeah, SA is heading in that general direction. The private sector is still pretty much in 'white hands' and hence going strong. The banking system and especially the stock exchange do well. But give time and they too will be forced to implement 'AffirmativeAction'. The public sector is almost done with AA implementation. Can't wait till Malema takes over and fixes SA for good.

There's always been a shortage of skills. That won't change any time soon. While the ANC is the worse thing that happened in this country and it could be better, more people have access to water, sanitation and electricity. Not that they had anything to do with it but it's easy to overlook if you're sitting on this side of the fence.

How it works... When people believe bad times are approaching they start saving and scale back their spending in preparation. The economy suffers as a result. Almost a self verfilling prophecy.
While in good times the money flows.
