So here is the scenario:

I can get ADSL, but only 2Mbps (No Contract) . I have been looking at Telkom's LTE Deals R699 for 100GB, BUT it is on a contract. My main concern is that it is on Contract, like WHAT IF better deals come out in the 24 months?

I will mostly use it to stream Sport (Really not a lot) and the also play Xbox online. Signal seems to be good enough - a lot higher than 2Mbps.

What would you guys recommend?

ADSL if you play online games, there is just no comparison to wireless. and Ef contracts.

Why only 2 Mbps? Exchange limitation?

If you're in Pretoria, consider a WISP too

Yes it is true especially with the latency being a lot more constant. Another thing for me to keep in consideration is that I want to go over to Xbox One. Downloading a 60GB is going to take quite some time. :-/

This looks great! Thanks! Do you know anybody using it?

i know a while back there was a post on this forum from someone using it and they rated it amazing. i'm waiting for telkom to roll this out in my area as i have terrible adsl speeds here

Yeah, a friend of mine signed up a few weeks ago. So far he is very happy. Speed is great for everything except torrents (sometimes). They are supposed to only cap p2p traffic after 50GB fair use, but he says one night its crawling then other nights amazingly fast. Either way still the best uncapped value-for-money deal you can probably get. FYI, he doesn't play games.

I'm using telkom lte in my area too (not on this deal though). Measuring ~30mbps using speedtest.net to local servers.

out of interest, if you take the LTE option, and you had to top up if you ran out of data. What would the cost be to top up with say 100GB's of data?

the reason why im asking that is, is ADSL data per Gig not cheaper than mobile data anyway.

Meh - Did some signal Test. Rather going with ADSL. Speed is good on LTE but Latency not as such!

Thanks for the Input guys!

If you want a 4 meg uncapped connection and willing to pay R800 a month plus the set up fee you can try Amobia.
