I used to stay 4.2 kilometers from the exchange.
I was set to a 6 Meg port profile.
A multi-thread download of a file at a speed of 418 kb/s , and i know i generally on a 4 meg port profile u get 380-400 kb/s download speed.
So ideally a 5 meg or even 4 meg port profile would have been ideal for where i used to stay which was 4.2 km from the exchange.
I stayed in Mondeor and my exchange was Robertsham.
So many of those technicians didnt believe i was getting those speeds , i had to send them screen shot to their telkom individual email addresses.
Same crap where I live now, oh no you cant 8 megs because you are too far from the exchange, you will be lucky if u get 4 megs.
The website says i get what i get , so i ordered it , and i get it.
Its ridiculous the pain we go through to get the ADSL we want.
If its not available then dont advertise it.
If the oke wants 5 megs give him 5 megs and if he gets line drops and the circuits have been checked and line qualities, then kindly just lower the speed.
I dont even believe they should be running this kuk software overnight that checked what your conditions and then changes you automatically to some other speed you are not even paying for, either, its rubbish.
The customer should be able to change his own line speed by allowing auto or enforce rather than have telkom dictate.
It was sold to you in the first place.
As big as they are and as much as they want to grown their brand they should be improving all of this.
I have seen one minded technicians and other that want to believe in something possible.
And another bull**** thing is that you get told that you cant have this but then u have stats to prove that you have actually had this service and for x amount of time.
crazy
