ADSL Account theft making headlines again

"Most manufacturers strongly recommend their end users change these logins and passwords for security reasons.”

Well, its obvious a recommendation does not work - the manufacturers have to think of the users now and force the user to change the password when they first login.

In the case of my Zyxel Router after the last Firmware Update, the manufacturer changed the login procedure.
Zyxel took away the User name and Password Pop-up Window and replaced it with just a web based password and no user name, which would accept the default password on the first login.
After you enter the default password, one is presented with a second window which asks you to change your password...

Time to drop those Telkom modem/routers. Most decent routers prevent public access to the web admin on the router - only private LAN access is allowed. Don't know why this isn't the norm with them Telkom modem/routers?!
