ADSL account with static IP

Last I knew you had to get a business ADSL account for about R2500/month to get a static ip.

Was a long time ago I looked into this though ...

Pretty much all the ISP's Business accounts would include static IP addresses.

The reason you need a business account is because in order to get a static IP address you need to use a special Cisco router that sets up a VPN between you and your ISP across your ADSL connection and the static IP addresses are assigned to you using the VPN directly from your ISP.

Unfortunately the way that Telkom's ADSL network is setup means it doesn't support static IP address allocation directly.

We actually just went through this a few days ago;

Contact IS directly and request their Business DSL Cruiser packages

You can do it over Uncapped(384K @ 599pm) or Capped accounts(5GB @ 350pm) - it'll always be unshaped and prioritised. and you get 5 IP's assigned to it.

and i should be getting paid for this!! dammat!

It is for a video conferencing system.

384k just won't cut it. 1Mb or better.

Will have a shufty at the various ISP's then, thanks.
