Anyone know any official(ish) figure regarding this months (according to the news) reductions in ADSL prices? Busy debating whether I should apply to have my line speed upgraded before everyone else applies to do the same:p

I do not see the point of a line upgrade (certainly not above 384).
The cap makes speeds useless, as you can still only use xGB per month.

If you are on IS and want tons of local, it still does not pay, as IS is below 10kB during the day anyway. Yes, you get some more speed at night, but is the cost justified?

thought you only used your line for IRC, MSN, e-mail, HTTP, Skype etc. no downloading (esp. illegal content). why on Earth do you want to upgrade now?!

PostmanPot - because my mom and I simultaneously use Video Call on Skype which lags us both hecticly

Moederloos - cap isn't a problem. Not gonna do more with a faster line, I don't really download

What's this all about?

I have heard something about Telkom changing their exchanges to a software based system so installation becomes almost instantaneous if you do a self-install. Anyone heard any more on this?

I feel they should abolish the 192 and 384 (IMO they're an affront to the term broadband). Then they should lower the cost of the 512 down to at least the level of 192 and introduce a 2mbs service.

This will never happen. I too wish for something like this and would be very happy to pay the R270-00 for a 512K line, but we know that Telkom would never even consider anything of the sorts.

Here we dream again......:D
