Hi List,

Is everyone noticing their IP's staying static for every day of december so far?

I have had the same IP every day - I am using TelkomInternet?

Is this something that was planned - or is this the norm?

Another trick by the devil to convert everyone to their Internet accounts?

Just checked my dyndns log and I have had five different 165.* ip addresses since the beginning of december on my Telkrom account. (Between times I have been connected to IS).

OK well not in my case... So just wondering if Telkom was trying a new plan!!

Oh. My. God. I didn't even notice.

I've had the same IP for the whole month.

lol - I rest my case. Noo.. Who is your ISP and what sort of account do you have, shaped / unshaped?

doc, I sent u a pm. Check it out.

My IP's been the same since the 2nd. Disconnects every 24hrs.

TelkomInternet account, shaped.

TelkomInternet Advanced (i.e. 3GB Shaped). As far as I know, it all depends on what modem you have. I've got the Telkom 5100 which I think is a rebranded Billion 5102? Anyway, on certain modems such as this one, if you set the router to route, it auto connects every 24 hours (or less, which happens once or so every few weeks) and gives you the same ip. If you manually reset the modem you'll find it changes... or at least in my case it does :D

Roger that n00berizer.. I am on an unshaped account, Telkom Internet being my ISP..24 hour disconnects as well.

I have tried manual disconnects same story get the same IP everytime, works for me!!

Time to get rid of dyndns, not required!! :)

My modem is set on dial mode, and its a NetGear. don't think it has anything to do with the type of modem or setting...

LOL, I wouldn't give up on it right away.

Would be interesting to see if its just "heavy users" whose IP's are staying the same, or if it's accross the board.

i've had the same IP for the past.... 11 days...
good on web africa ;p

mine has changed 6 times(cybersmart) though i use a dynamic dns update thingy so it really never bothers me.

I've got my router in bridged mode, I also move my machine between the office and home (a few blocks). I quite offen have the same IP for days if not weeks, I think it has something to do with connects / dissconnects to your local ESR (Edge Service Router) from your DSLAM.

As I'm connecting though the same DSLAM within 10 to 20 mins to the same ESR, I think the system just assigns me the same IP.

However somethimes I diss for 5 mins and I get a new IP... maybe a user in my area stole my old one?

My IP has been static for the entire month....is anyone else having this aswell. Telkom Internet 3 gig shaped.

Anyone?
