I had the same issue. I had them drop my line speed from 10mbit to 6, had the port reset and replaced the pots filter.
One week and counting - no issues so far.

Suggest you plug the modem's power supply into a totally different socket to eliminate power problems.

On a similar note tech guys, can I ask your opinion on my line. Its a 2MB line on which I can manage only a max of 300kbps transfer. Its usually between 100 and 200kbps. Is this standard performance?

Sorry if there is another post on this but doesnt seem like their situation is the same with mine. I am currently using a Netgear N300 router and the adsl light suddenly just drops and reconnects. I thought it was the router so I changed to another one (dlink dsl-2760u) worked for a while but same thing. I tried on another router (Planet router) plugged it in 2 minutes later drops again. I made sure it wasnt the router. I tried calling openweb, they said nothing was wrong, I cancelled with mweb but still have one month remaining so i tried with them. Exactly the same thing happened. I have called telkom COUNTLESS times they said everything was fine on their side, I still told them to log a fault, 2 days later I get a sms saying "dear customer, your fault has been restored". WTF! this has happened 4 times now!!. I really have no idea why or what could it be that my adsl keeps dropping!! Really frustrating! Does anyone have any solutions?! PLEASE HELP!

Send TelkomZA a PM. I sent him one yesterday (Also with OpenWeb and I have authentication fail issues at least once a day) OpenWeb said that my line is losing sync to the exchange and that I should contact Telkom so I sent TelkomZA a PM and I literally just finish speaking with a Telkom technician now. Shes going to upgrade my port card to MSAN or something like that. All I know is faster speeds :D Thanks TelkomZA!

I did pm telkomza and it was him who created the last fault for me which the technician hung up on me so I have pm him again hopefully he can resolve this issue... it has been going on for about a month now:'(

I have done all the tests that I could do on my side.
Because I stay in a complex they said it was the internal telephone line's problem, got them to come restrip n check the lines, still nothing...

I have changed the modem twice first I was using a N300 netgear then I tried my old router a planet ADE-4400 then I tried a dlink dsl2760u still nothing.

I have changed the filter, still nothing.

I have tried plugging the adsl line straight from the telephone jack to the modem still nothing.

I cant think of anything else I could try...

Eish, still not sorted, that sucks. :crying:

Unrelated, I was at my folks place this week at the Garden Route and I noticed that their router, a certain DuoPlus randomly loses connectivity and the little Network icon alters between saying it is connected at 100Mbps and 10Mbps. They are none the wiser and simply accept that is the way things are, they were after all born BBC, born before computers.

Hi There,
Sorry to see that despite all the suggestions from the site that you are still having issues. It clearly shows though that the fault is not with you.
Did you get more response romt Telkom man on the site?

I believe the issue is going to be with them and possibly a congested exchange at night.

Regards

Tim

Yes I have pmd telkomza a couple of times now. At first he just reported a fault for me and then 2 days later a technician called me and just asked me if it still dc alot, I said yes then he just hung up. Then about a week later I pmd telkomza again and then he said my fault was cleared long ago...wtf?! So then he said he is going to speak to the technician manager and escalate my fault it has been a week now and still nothing...

Is it possible to request a refund from them for the downtime we have been experiencing? If so how do I do that? Coz the whole of august just keeps dc...

Try this replace all your pots filters and also change all your phone cables + DSL cable, it worked for me.
