I've been having this problem from the time I got adsl. When the phone rings or someone answers it my adsl just drops and cannot connect.

I feel maybe I installed incorrectly because I know people have been saying something about adding a "pots filter". After looking in my box the router came with I found something that says "Adsl filter" (see image below)

Can you please redirect me on how to install it or maybe some video. My adsl works but I think i need to add this component in.

Add the filter in between your phone and the telkom box on the wall.

Do you mean here??

The cord in my hand connects to the router and the other on is for the telephone line.

ADSL router goes directly into the wall.
Phone must be plugged into the POTS filter, the filter then goes directly into the wall.

Router cord in your hand is fine.

Take the other out and plug into the phone end of the filter, find an extra phone cable and plug into the wall and the other end of the filter.

Filter is damaged or none-existant. Happens to me all the time. That's how I know when I need to change my filters...

Okay so I need to add the splitter to the "telephone set" on the wall. Then add the telephone line in "phone" and router in "line".

No, router plugs straight in like you have it now and the telephone plugs into the pots filter into the other jack.

Okay! So the I need to the add pots filter on the wall in the telephone socket and then add the telephone chord into the pots filter

The pots filter is the first image I uploaded, am I right?

Did it, the Internet is working so that's fine.

I haven't tested it out by making a call and see if the line drops (will do it later)

See image below if I have it right now?

(the black chord is the telephone one)
