I have had Telkom ADSL for 8 years now. Line was originally installed by Telkom who put in filtering. This has worked fine until this month. I previously had Telkom Do Broadband 20GB package at "full speed" (actually 4mbps). I changed a couple of weeks ago to Telkom 4mbps unlimited.

I have now noticed that whenever I get a phone call the ADSL crashes. I understand that Telkom have significantly changed their line structure. Do I now need to change the line filters?

Have you tried to measure the line stats both with and without the filter attached (without any telephones attached to the line)? If there is any noticeable change in the figures the filter might have gone bad. If either the upload/download noise margin is close to 6dB the ADSL might disconnect during a telephone call even with a working filter. If you reduce your line speed to say 3Mbps does it still disconnect during a phone call? New filters cost about R40 so it might be worth purchasing a new set to test.
