Just wanted to check if these are ADSL filters. I keep getting asked by telkom technicians if i am using them, and this is what the telkom store sold me.

Please let me know.

Thanks

The D-Link APF717P (2nd image) is a ADSL Spliter/filter, you will see the output is marked PHONE (self explanatory) & DSL (modem/router).

... not sure about image 1.

D-Link also supply the DSL-30CF ADSL Spliter/Filter

Thanks. Now i just wish my line would stop dropping everytime the phone rings

Plugged in incorrectly or they are not filters.

Are those fixed to the wall? Cos I would like to see the other side.

Yes it is a filter, you will most likely only find splitter versions of it.

@Suspect99, have you tried swapping them out? A new one costs R50 or so at a Telkom store.

Its connected to another box with wires going into the wall. Will put a little later.

Yep I have. I have even disconnected all then phones completely and run the wire coming from the telkom pole directly into my router . Same result

And here are my line stats, just for good measure (already been advised the line is terrible)

I also disconnected the phone on the extension where the modem is not connected, and tested - didnt help improve anything.

Monitor the downstream SNR, phone your land line and see if the SNR drops to around 6dB whilst ringing. If it does chances are that there is a dodgy joint somewhere, you can perform a DIY inspection up to and including the wall jack but you'll need a techie to check the rest of the line (and perform the incoming call test on their router).

Will see if i can do anything while the phone actually rings.

You do realize you need one of these on EVERY phone right?

Putting it on just one phone when you have more than one it won't work and the line will drop every time.

Sounds like you have something else that is hogging the line.

Possible alarm system you don't know about? Or not using.
