Hi all,

So this is my first post whooo!!!..
anyways, I have asked telkom the same question and nobody has been able to help me on this.

I have accounts with multiple isp's for various reasons, The moment I swop over to telkom my internet speeds start fluctuating, anything from 8.5mps down to 0.15mbps. all my Acc's are 10mb/s and unshaped and capped at 100GB.

why does this only happen when i use telkom as my ISP ?

Thanks.

What type of traffic is it might I ask? Http downloads, streaming, speed test, p2p (torrents mostly) or router sync?

Various ISP's have various issues and shaping policies.

Simple as that. Take Vox for example.

Working great in JHB, although in Cape Town they are having tons of issues - slow speeds, high pings and unable to access certain websites.

Well P2P seeing that we use it for RDP sessions that would run majority of the day, Do you think that might be why ?

Most ISPS are starting to shape P2P, Afrihost/telkom/mweb all shape it during the day. Afrihost is shaping it due to network demand exceeding capacity atm, the rest have decided to enfore FUPs. Webafrica also shapes I think, but not sure on that, never used them.
