ADSL Issues

Hey guys, I'm having some problems with me ADSL... My internet connection keeps dropping for some reason, it'll work fine, at full speed, and then all of a sudden it dies. I then have to restart my router (Netgear), and then it works again... I'm really confused by it. Its only been since i upgraded my line to a 4mb line... Anyone have any ideas?

But why would it be giving problems because of the speed?

Its copper cable, might create noise @ the higher speed

is there some way that i can check the noise levels? my router is a Netgear DG834G router.....

do i have to go through telkom to throttle the line speed? or can i somehow get it done myself? cos we all know how useless telkom can be...

Just phone them, and they can't be worse then Neotel.

Was having similar problems with our 4mb dsl yesterday. Eventually synced at around 2700kbps rather than 4096kbps and has been pretty stable since.

I was actually considering neotel at one point.....:wtf: bummer.... I heard it was awesome as long as you had good signal...

But thats the thing, mine just keeps dropping, then i need to restart, and then it works for a while.... then it decides to die again.... so its an ongoing problem...
