On Friday i requested that my line speed be increased to a 4mb line.

I get home and the red internet line is on :(

Afrihost can't assist. Telkom logs a fault. On Saturday Telkom says there is a huge problem as when they upgraded the line, they messed it up.

He gets it to work a few hours later and I have wonderful uncapped usage on my 4mb line for the rest of the weekend. Comes yesterday and once again in don't have internet - red line on again.

But in the meantime, telkom contacts me (can't get hold of me because of meetings) and tells my sister-in-law that they need to speak to me urgently as I have a problem on my line.

The guy calls from cape town this morning and says he wants to place me on the fastest speed possible on my exchange, but that he can't see my modem. So I say yes, that's what the technician said on Saturday.

So what the hec is going on! I'm testing out my very very cheap uncapped account with Afrihost and don't know why it's giving me problems in my testing month!

I'm hoping that when he places me on the highest speed, I get 10mbps :) Would be awesome!
 
lol! I need to get my posts numbers up, ok! Thought someone might know why they can'ts see my modem. :p
 
Telkom needs to fix their line installation, it's as simple as that.

The technician must come to your house, plug in a little device into the telephone / adsl wall box that beeps. He then goes to the exchange box and traces it and fixes whatever is wrong. If they can't see your modem, obviously there is a break in connection between your router and the exchange.
