ADSL jargon explained

You forgot to explain what the A means exactly.
Also people will need to know how to connect the Ethernet cable, or setup wi-fi and how to connect to the modem's managemnet console, so they can enter their username and password...

The article also fails to explain "Telkom", and the effects thereof.

It would help if a few more 'SA reality' issues were included.

Unshaped is not just a priority, it costs up to 4 times more than a shaped package. As noted, SA ISP's use shaping to limit the amount of traffic, particularly on their 'uncapped' packages.

MWeb's shaping is demand driven, with harsh effects on low-priority traffic during peak periods, and full-speed only at those rare times (typically midnight to 6am) when the network is quieter.

For example, the contention ratio as published by Telkom is 20:1, this means that you would share your bandwidth with no more than 20 subscribers on the Telkom Network.

A friend in the industry suggests that this is false. Telkom have had contention ratios of up to 100:1 at one stage.
