Hi
I have a TPLink router and it's giving me the following stats:

(uptime is only a couple of minutes)

ADSL Firmware Version: FwVer:3.11.2.175_TC3086 HwVer:T14.F7_6.0

Line State: Showtime

Modulation: ADSL2 PLUS

Annex Mode: ANNEX_A

Downstream Upstream

SNR Margin: 7.6 16.3 db

Line Attenuation: 38.0 18.5 db

Data Rate: 6144 635 kbps

Max Rate: 8936 1096 kbps

POWER: 0.0 3.3 dbm

CRC: 1213 0

Is that number CRC errors? Cos that's an insane number in a couple of minutes?

Also, my max rate used to be >13k. Should I log this d'you think?

CRC is an error with the probably the dslam card or cable, I had it before, but after numerous fault reports they eventually fixed the cable/card and then it went away.

Haven't had the problem since

Hi There,
Definitely a problem with the hardware side of your connectivity. So place a call with Telkom. If you put a phone on the line is it clear or crackling? If there is even the slightest noise I would place a voice fault first and then thereafter a data fault. If Afrihost is managing your Telkom line then place the fault with them. I have found them to be super responsive.

Regards

Tim

The fault is already logged. Line sounds clean though, so I won't get away with a voice fault. The main question, though, was "Is this CRC figure actually a CRC error count" specifically on this router.

Sydney had a poke around.

Stats now look like:
Downstream Upstream

SNR Margin: 20.7 15.6 db

Line Attenuation: 38.0 18.5 db

Data Rate: 6144 635 kbps

Max Rate: 15712 1104 kbps

POWER: 0.0 4.3 dbm

CRC: 1 0

Thanks Sydney!

Now how do we get telkom to make this exchange a 10mb exchange?!

What did you do to fix the CRC errors? I have the exact same problem :(

Damn, I tried that with Mweb. They logged a call with Telkom, Telkom says it's because my exchange is congested O_o
Did your CRC errors also cause lots of packet loss?
