Recently i have been having problems with the router not connecting to the exchange and dropping the connection. I read a thread that said you phone telkom and tell them that there is a problem with the voice quality problem and then they will sort the problem out quicker? Is this true? Or should i just phone the data fault number? The ADSL has been working fine for the past year or two but this just recently started about a few weeks ago.

is it your internet connection dropping or dsl sync?
DSL sync.

So i just found out that the router will sync with the exchange if i make a phone call. Anyway there are two lines coming into the house a black one and a white one. The phone is connected to the white one.I don't know where that line comes from. The black one comes from the pole that everyone else s lines are connected to. The black wire has a box thing on it then from there it connects to the router. There is a pots filter connected to the box thing. But from what i understand the phone should be connected to the other side of the pots filter?

as long as phone is connected to a filter and its not faulty it should be fine

whats your line stats
