good day. I am thinking of getting an ADSL installed on existing line. According to http://www.broadbandstats.co.za my information is as follows :

ADSL is available in your area
Your exchange is also enabled for 10Mbps
You are connected to the ERASMUSRAND (TERN02) exchange.

is there a way to get more information on what the line quality will be on this line ? maybe plug in something to check this ? before i install adsl ?

i am new to adsl, always had vodacom usb thingy. is adsl the best way to go though ?

cheers

Erasmusrand will be VDSL enabled (up to 40Mbps) by the end of January 2014. As part of the rollout they should be testing all copper cables in the area to ensure good service.

Any idea where I can find out about Parkhurst? I ordered a 2meg line that only synced at 384kbps so went with the iburst option instead...

Thanks

Not too good if you are connected directly to the MSAN at the central office (exchange). Seen any work being done on boxes nearer to you?

they were doing some work on this one earlier this month !adsl 1.jpg

and this is a lot closer to my house. +- 500m

That is an SDC (street distribution cabinet). There should be a code on it, eg. TERN B21A3.

Somewhere close to the SDC (a block or two away) there should be another bigger cabinet either cream or light grey... and they should be working on it.

ust i look out for the one on the left ? or bigger ?

No, that's an old UMC type cabinet that is being replaced.

Called the numbers and got redirected a few times.

Finally spoke to someone, and they don't know.

Back to square 1...
