Adsl modem suggestions?

It seems my router is starting to die a slow and painful death....so to ease it's pain, free it from it's misery or retire it from active duty, however you want to look at it, I've decided it's time to shop for a new one.

...but as it is, I'm not all that clued up on routers, what to look out for, what's important and what's not. I run the basic setup where adsl's connected via lan to desktop with laptop connected via wireless.

Any advice and/or recommendations on which would be a good router option to get? Just hoping for something with good quality, entry to mid-range. Price range, probably looking around R800 - R1300 or so.

Go for the D-Link DSL-2740U - it supports 802.11n (much faster than 802.11g wireless).

I just bought one for R1300.

lol, that is quite steep for an ADSL router.

I can get the following for ~R1350 (VAT incl):

Most people won't require the MikroTik, so they could get a pretty decent solution for R1000 !

If someone has a cheaper/better all-in-one solution (802.11n WiFi AP, gigabit LAN & multiple PPTP VPN client connections with static routing) I would really like to know
