At the office we use the Telkom Marconi ADSL modem/router connected to our LAN.
It is setup so that the users need to do a manual connect from their workstations. I have done this intentionally for various reasons.

At home I have the Netgear DG834 which appears only to be able to be setup with the login details internal to the Router which is fine for home.

I would like to replace the Marconi unit at the office with something better, preferably a Netgear product but one which allows manual connection.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Joel

I found a complaint by a DG834 user saying:-

"I was very dissapointed to realise after purchase that this ADSL Router does not support Bridged mode, which means that you cannot have two simultaneous connections, from different PC's to different ISP's."

This is essentially what the Marconi router does now and what I am wanting to do with the DG834.

So who's right?

Thanks, I tried that with the unit I have at home.
It is currently set up in Router mode (modem + Router).
Are you saying that if I change it to Modem only mode then I will achieve what I am after ie. each network user (about 8 in total) needs to do a separate connect and some users will be able to connect using a different ADSL account?

Basically yes, you'd set up individual PPPoE connections on each pc.

Im not sure what the max independant modem connections are that the router can handle. At least 2 users will be able to use their own accounts. (minimum)

Thanks Oh Grandmaster! I see location is my favorite part of the world.
Spent 5 great years at Rhodes!

Thanks dab, at the moment 7 of the 8 users use one account and I choose between one of two other I have around the country depending on which has least usage.
