Hey Guys,

After 2 years of trying to get away from iBurst, Telkom eventually put ADSL lines in for us. :D

**Dances**

Anyway, I want wireless ADSL so I can connect from my PS3 or notebook. Can someone with experience (used it before) recommend one for me? I have a budget of about R500 - R600. My PS3 is in the lounge with my notebook (most of the time) but my ADSL line is in the kitchen (brainy developers).

What would you guys recommend?

I found this. Is it a good deal?

Thanks

Looks fine to me :) - They all do pretty much the same thing, however what is important to me is whether the router can handle very low Signal to Noise Ratio. I know that the Netgear DG384G v5 which is meant to be one of the best at being SNR tolerant; they even say there are many cases of the Netgear DG834(G) hanging on right down to 0db and below.

Cheers

Thanks ivusi,

I can also get the Linksys WAG54G for around R500. I think I might take it. I had a Linksys WRT54GL router & it worked really well.

It says up to 10 working days but I should get it sooner. Cannot wait to toss that terrible Telkom Mega 100WR! :D

Guys. got a dilema

I bought a Belkin router N+ at Incredible Connection. It comes with a 1 hour free installation by a technician, after which you pay R250 per hour.
I did the setup for the internet connection and call the technician to come and do the setup for wireless network for laptops X2 (Windows XP media and home edition), desktop (Windows 7) and PS3.

Problem: According to the technician, it was, and is, IMPOSSIBLE to connect XP with windows 7. The reason he gave me was that the XP is 2 generation old and is incompatible with windows 7. He also indicated that it is impossible to connect PS3 to Windows 7, but while fiddling with the PS3 I manage to connect both this machines such that I can wirelessly play contents in the PC (Windows 7) from a PS3. Remember, I am not a computer geek.

What I would like to know is:
1. Is this true that I can never have a network
2. Has anyone ever had a similar situation, and how did they manage to resolve it.

Bear in mind that Belkin router N+ cost almost R3000, but i got it on special.

It is very possible to network XP with windows 7, and also very possible to play media from your W7 through your PS3 (as you discovered). You can connect to W7 from XP by just typing in the IP address in the run console. It's just a matter of sorting out the sharing settings on your W7 machine.
