ADSL on mobile phone

Not sure if correct category, but just a quick question.
If we are able to use a mobile phone as a modem by entering your adsl details to connect a PC, why are you not able to use your adsl details directly on your phone?

Because they are using different technologies and run on totally different networks.
 
ADSL is a cable based technology where your personal service is linked via a copper cable from the jack in your house to a "card" in the exchange with your telephone number on it.
 
You could actually do this. If you had a wireless ADSL router in bridge mode, you could connect to the router via WIFI and then initiate a PPPOE connection from your phone using your ADSL username and password. I can't really see a good reason for doing that though, as you would still need an ADSL router to be involved to connect to the exchange.

He wants to move around with it... away from his house.
 
You could ... If an exact set of circumstances came to be.. and you were in a wifi area provided by your adsl supplier..
