ADSL over ISDN line

Is this possible?
i have ISDN2a for a telephone system I have which works well (PABX-like without the cost)
I need to have ADSL now installed.
Can this be done with the ISDN?

Do I need to install ANOTHER analogue line (which I dont need!) and unfortunately if so is it possible to add another analogue line to an ISDN?

ISDN works off a ISDN module within the Exchange Switch.
ADSL works off a DSLAM that is then link to a (different type of) module in the Exchange Switch.

Technically yes (referred to as ADSL annex B) but not supported by Telkom, so practically no.

Telkom does not support ADSL over ISDN lines. You would have to get another analogue line installed.

Cancel instead the ISDN line, get an analogue line with ADSL and a VoIP enabled router with integrated ISDN port to connect your PABX. You don't need to actually use VoIP, you can just set the router make all phone calls on the analogue line. The VoIP ADSL router just converts your analogue line back to the ISDN you require.

I don't think this would work with hunting packs and other dedicated numbers etc? Quite a few businesses still run multiple BRI's or PRI's. But the man has a point, either purchase a additional analogue line or examine how you use your ISDN and PABX and investigate alternate solutions.

Why not just keep that ISDN line until the ADSL line is installed?

You never know how long you'll have to wait... if you cancel that ISDN line, and telkom takes their sweet time, then you'll be stuck between a rock and hard place.

Doesn't that bring the additional ADSL line rental as a seperate item further into question? Still thinking about it....

Technically, it can be done since ISDN uses the baseband voice spectrum (8 kHz), DSL uses from there on up. Whether Telkom has the hardware to do it is a different matter.
