I am looking at upgrading my existing package from 384/3gig with Myisp to 384/uncapped.
The uncapped package with Myisp seem not to allow torrents so to me it would make it about useless as even normal browsing like to Facebook would also be slower than with a capped package. Please point me in the direction of a 384, uncapped package that will allow torrents and at least 30KB browsing speed under normal circumstances.

:(:o

Mweb :)
No more need be said, as they don't shape regular HTTP traffic.

I don't no if torrents are http traffic. Are torrents shaped with Mweb?

Take a look at Axxess Express accounts.

This is the MWEB "Uncapped" access dilemma in a nutshell:

You can't use it as access for work (from home), as it is too unreliable and too many protocols are being heavily shaped, including email and browsing.
You can't use the marketed "Uncapped" option, as this to is excessively shaped and restricted and only allowed during a small window period early in the morning. (Knowing MWEB, I expect further restrictions)

So it seems this account is intended for those that have a 384 Kbps line that were on dial up and MWEB oversold them a product that they don't really require, so as to extort funds from them as it was loosing clients at an alarming rate due to excessive charges for Internet access. (higher than Telkom - check MyBB's comparison a few months ago)

Know the corporate (bull****) tyrant you are dealing with. MWEB has never done the SA consumer any favours and I don't think they will start anytime soon. They would rather pay PR companies > R 80 K per month, to keep things running smoothly than actually delivering on their promises.

I suggest you do not support this company - vote with your wallet.

Regards

Michael

I have the same issues with my Axxess 384k "uncapped" account, it's not only MWEB who's shaping people to hell and back.

Sure, most ISP's in SA service offerings are atrocious, however Axxess has never charged the exorbitant fees of MWEB (and are reliant in other smaller ISP's), nor could you contribute the same level of false advertising to their marketing.

By no means do I discourage you to complain, be insistent on your rights as a consumer.

Please note that you will need to migrate your ADSL circuit to Wazzup to take advantage of this offer.
FAIL....
Openweb sells unshaped uncapped 384 for R319pm and then you don't have to migrate anything ;)

Link please. Thanks

Edit: just checked their website--if it is uncapped, GOLD @384K for R318 then it is SHAPED--I think you are misleading people. The UNSHAPED is for R599--go figure!

Can someone please explain what it means to "move your line" ? It would be much appreciated :)

also going around as 'migration', it basically comes down to paying the ADSL rental to someone else instead of Telkom. i dont know if it's still a requirement of the other people that the line be with Telkom first, guys?

None do, they are all full of **** and have hidden elements to the packages

I use HTTP to download my torrentzzzz :)
(Although most of the time the downloads stop or my download disconnects so it fails hash check once the download is complete - So I plug the file into uTorrent with the original torrent and it runs smoothly - albeit slowly, but it corrects all missing and invalid data)

ADSL packages that allow unshaped torrents are a bit expensive. There are cheaper ways to unshape your shaped package.
