ADSL Ping times jumped..why? fix?

Hey there,

has anyone noticed a jump in the ADSL ping times since 6th of October? I am from Port Elizabeth and was enjoying consistent pings (after hours) of roughly 40ms to local game servers, now my ping times are no less than 80ms..any ideas people?

I really hope this isn't permanent because that would truly suck.

My adsl have always been around 50ms on local sites and now its up to 90ms

looking at saix noticeboard, it seems like Telkom has finally put cape town users onto their own BRAS instead of using the Johannesburg one. They possibly still configuring and correcting routing on the new network layout now.

Just a thought...

Maybe they have put it onto PE's own BRAS and this is causing the slow down, due extended time taken to go from PE to JHB servers [rather than using standard fiber frame relay like they were] ? its really frusttrating not being able to talk to anyone about it, telkom support seems to know nothing and I can't even get them to log a fault on my behalf with SAIX.

I think Jo'burg users also having higher pings than usual.
sometimes it is 200ms from local server during the midnight!
or is it just me... [V]
