ADSL POTS Router and Dynamic DNS

I'm currently having difficulty getting dynamic DNS to work. Someone told me this is because of the Telkom POTS Router

Has anyone else experienced this problem or gotten it to work?

I've Got the POTS router with 1 ethernet port although I originally ordered the 4 port version :/ I just gave up fighting eventually.

It's running in bridge mode atm which as I understand it disables everything except the router modem. Could it still block incoming ports?

Please, any help would be appreciated as I need to get this working. I'll probably go scream at some telkom personell tomorrow in the hope of getting the 4 port version i originally ordered.

Nope - no problems - running the original Alcatel speedtouch home in bridge mode.
Had to tell windows's firewall to allow incomming connections to the WEB server. But you gave us no info on OS or anything.

Firewall: Enabled on D-Link Router, Disabled in WinXP
Modem: Telkom ADSL POTS Router(1Port Ethernet, Bridge mode)
Router: D-Link DI-624
Server Tech: MS IIS-5.1

Did I miss any information?

There is your problem. Search this forum for help on that router. You're going to have to setup external (WEB) to internal access through that router. I dunno how.

Which setting are needed on my router to allow traffic through...

The options are Virtual Server where I'm forwarding trafic on port 80 to my machine running IIS. I've even tried setting my internal machine running IIS on the DMZ zone of the router which also didn't help.

I can browse the site I created fine on the internal network but nothing from the internet :/

Done that and still nothing :/

Even used DMZ which opens up everything to the machine and still nothing

Did a tracert from a machine connected to the internet independantly and I get all the way to my ADSL connected machine.

I'm out of ideas... :/

From what you've said - i'd smack that router verrrry hard and throw it away.
maybee the DMZ only works after the machine that it's DMZ'ing has re-updated it's ip address. Loooooooooong shot - open cmd prompt - "ipconfig /renew" - to get your IP stuff refreshed from the router. Otherwise - reboot the machine.
I can't think of a single other reason for that carp. It's just daft.

ye but I like my DLink router... I'd rather throw the POTS piece of crap against the wall and take the pieces to Telkom and say "Something is wrong with it"

I'll try what you suggested but by now i'm 90% sure it's the telkom garbage... ag erm "hardware"
