One should also look at what SBC and Telecom Malaysia (spelling?) offers and charges - remember - they are combined the SEP in Telkom - are they here to milk us or do costs compare with what they charge in their own countries?
 
Dont get me wrong i am anti telkom , but at the end of the day they are a buissness and we are being stupid and paying them yes there is no othere choice here so we are forced to be stupid , so at the end of the day we are stupid and they are clever buissness men

ADSL line installation charge <b></b> - once off including VAT

Marconi ADSL POTS Ethernet modem <b></b>
R1499.00

Telkom said there's an additional +/- R200 p/m ontop of the R680....
So ATUALLY it's +/- R880 pm.....

What's the 2 charges for??

Can I get it cheaper anywhere else in RSA?

Sigh, and I am coming to Cape Town in Jan for 1 year - good weather (compared to Denmark), lousy ADSL :)
 
Holy crap internet is expensive in Denmark compared to other first-world countries!!
 
It is worth looking at the prices ex VAT (25%) to make a better comparison.

You think Internet is expensive there - try buying a car.
 
The Car:
Yip, that is why I don't own a car here, but do in SA - not that I can use it :) Before using your car in DK, it could cost you from R10000 to R20000 in Taxes/Insurance per year. The cheapest per liter price on petrol is around R7. Besides, they drive on the wrong side of the road.

ADSL expensive in DK:
Yes, I noticed that, althought the competition is heating up and prices are starting to come down. A friend at work lives in a block of flats that share a cable connection, he pays about R60 a month and performed a speed test the other day, 4MB download/2MB upload. Scary...

Or for that matter, try buying a beer, even earning GB £'s i found myself climbing on the wagon over there. [:(]

Well, i haven't had the pleasure of visiting Telscums website lately, but i imagine its the ISP charge, and if you look around, you'll find many alternatives. Make your choice depending on what you're gonna be using it for mostly. If its gaming you're into, i recommend mexcom or imaginenet.

Hi picnics

The R680pm is for your ADSL line rental, similar to your normal phone line rental.
The additional R220 is your ISP fee if you use Telkom Internet as your ISP. You can of course use a different ISP, but since all of them merely resells the Telkom offering, their monthly ADSL fees are either very similar or more expensive, although they may offer additional or better quality services.
