ADSL problems in the Equestria area

Yep, I've had a few disconnections this afternoon. Telkom phoned me today to tell me that my problem had been resolved.... but of course it had not..

Seems like the makings of the next Zimbabwe. When high end infrastructure like DSL starts to deteriorate and there is no motivation to resolve the problem, we have ventured onto the slippery slope.

First time in a year that we had a problem. And that was due to some idiot that destroyed a fibre cable. Generally had good service this far. Just today that seems to be a problem

The disconnection is also a first for me but i'm battling with trying to get a resolution to my insanely high latency (200ms - 900ms) between myself and my exchange..

This problem has been ongoing for about a month now and I have on a number of occasions had Telkom tell me that all is now well.. I really wanna smack some sense and due diligence into their technical department!! I do however know that their are some talented and highly skilled technicians who can diagnose and resolve these issues, I just wish I could be lucky enough to have one of those guys help me out..

One technician will not be able to help you. A serious infrastructure upgrade is needed.

I think what happens is that telkom tests the line during the day (When there are no problems). They cant see the problem because there is no problem during daytime hours.

Yeah that's likely it.. Why can't they record and view the traffic during the night so as to make informed decisions when they feel like working during the day? Once again, they will not be doing me any favours by resolving this, I do actually pay for this service, it's not free.

The whole Equestria area goes through the Willows exchange according to Telkom. My line was also fine last night from about 9pm. But between 17:30 - 21:00 it was bad. Did someone from telkom fix your line?

@creeper. I saw that your speed test results were taken at 8:17PM GMT and not GMT+2... Was it done at 8:17PM? or 10:17PM??

If they fixed your line please share what was done..

Odd, didn't see that. It was done at 8:17PM, but also did a test at around 18:00 with the same results.

Edit: Not sure what they did. I had an unconfigured error on my router. Got home, and it was working again.

Wish I could be so lucky.. I still have about 400 - 1000ms local ping.. 012 807

FML

XD

Maybe it is because you are using Telkom as an ISP??

I highly doubt that Telkom has the know how to give their ISP clients priority though.

That would be ridiculous but it makes me think of something.

Recently one of my friends told me that he is going to buy a new car. I was like what car??
He was like an Audi TT.

Now the way that this ties up is that I would rather drive my 1989 Toyota Corolla than an Audi TT. The reason being that if you drive an Audi TT you either have to be a woman or a hair dresser. :D In my view the same goes for Telkom. Sure maybe the speed and performance is better now, but in the long run do you really want to be a woman or a hair dresser?

My problem has been resolved! After liasing with TelkomZA, I've been moved from the congested Willows 3 exchange to the Willows 5 exchange.

Problem Solved! No more high latency!

Many thanks to TelkomZA and everyone else who helped to resolve this. :)

Will ask about that

I am also on the Willows 3 exchange.

I want what you have!

How did you contact TelkomZA?
