Yeah, phoned that number. Then they tell me to phone SAIX or Telkom Internet, who transfers me strait back to ADSL tech support the minute they hear the word "ADSL". [}

I have changed the DNS adresses as above, and it made no difference at all (which I expected). The one thing that I am told repeatedly every time I log a call, is that I must switch off the "ADSL Router POTS", leave it off for a minute, and then switch it on again. That makes no difference at all. My trace route looked as follows:
192.168.0.1 Internet PC
0.0.0.0 **Unknown**
165.165.128.1 Telkom BRAS Cape Town
However I had a power failure yesterday afternoon, and when everything started up again, it was as follows:
192.168.0.1 Internet PC
165.165.128.1 Telkom BRAS Cape Town
My packet loss was gone, and all was back to how it should be. It is so obvious that the 0.0.0.0 was the problem, but I assumed that it was the ADSL router. It was actually the Switch that registered that IP (even though it is an unmanaged switch). So if you have packet loss, take a crossover cable from your PC to the Router first, and see if your switch or LAN cables are not misbehaving...
Telkom was not to blame here. [:I][:I]
