Hi

Our neighborhoods phone lines got nabbed 3 weeks ago , and after much struggling telkom informed us that we can expect to wait at least 5-6 months for the cables to be replaced.
This isnt really acceptable , so i would like to know what alternatives i can use for internet access. HSDPA is a little pricey (value wise imo). The connection should also be fairly low latency , so that it could be used for internet gaming when needed as well.

Please help ...

That's going to bite on a 3G connection.
IMO as well try Neotel

Neotel

Neotel says my area has fair coverage , and not excellent so they dont want to give me their product... dammit hehehe

low latency? ADSL it will have to be then :( telkom has got you by the short and curlies, sir

it doesnt have to be super low latency ... im not planning on playing fps hehehe.

It just needs to give me around 300-700 ping to WOW servers for the occasional mmorpg.

well in that case take the cheapest option between: iBusted, Vodacrap and Empty Enn

hsdpa should be fine (latency wise) for wowing. i think theres quite a few people playing on iburst or hsdpa. and i still have some friends playing on dial up internet!

COD4 might be a whole different kettle of fish though

No iburst coverage either ... things are looking bleak indeed.

I will have to stand outside with my 3g card in my hand and a nine iron in my ass to get decent signal though.

Phone telkom and ask if they can provide you with wimax as they cant with ADSL

in the meantime ask for a credit because you're paying for a service they can't provide ;)
